We have decided to publicly list some of our ideas for this site so we can get feedback.
Anyone can leave a comment on posts in our News Blog. The comments will be sent to a moderation queue where we will read them and maybe post them based on what’s in them. However, know that we do read all comments. We have closed commenting due to spam, but these ideas still exist.
Ideas:
- The site will use the new Unbounded Productions Theme, which has yet to be named. Scratched. Uses new WP3 theme.
- A new skin will be developed for the Theme using the old FIM greenish color schemes. New skin built on top of the new WP3 theme.
- The style and layout of the site will resemble what it does now. However, it will most likely contain 3 sections across the bottom of the site as well. This can be accomplished if need be with the new theme.
- If possible we want to have the site setup so users can post their own content or make revisions like a Wiki. However, everything will go through a moderation queue before being posted to the site. Using a wiki for everything except news blogging. Has already been implemented.
- Section: Encyclopedia – This will be an encyclopedia and dictionary all rolled into one. Pages will be A-Z. However, we are not sure if we wish to create a page for each entry, or create a page with a set number of entries. We are leaning towards a set number of entries, being organized in an A – Am, Am-Az order. This has been created with the wiki. Each item will have it’s own entry, but things are set up in categories and sub categories as well. Ready to be populated.
- Section: Reference – This section will hold references, how to guides, and lessons. Section exists in the wiki, and is ready to be populated.
- We will host a forum allowing the discussion of all things musical. This forum will be child friendly and heavily moderated for language and other issues.
- Section: Gear / Setups: This section will host gear setups and settings. Gear setups can use images or text flow charts to describe how someone sets up their gear to work properly. This section will also include digital setups for devices such as the Line6 POD, amp setups for getting specific tones, and various other technical setups. We want to keep this section separate from the reference section due to it being more about gear than theory or technique. Section has been setup, and is ready for populating. Section may be changed over to the forum once it’s up to make it easier for users to post their own setups. Also, a second version may be implemented into the forum while keeping the wiki version as well. Both could be used for slightly different things.
Notes:
- The current theme was chosen because of it’s color scheme. The layout seems to work decently for the site idea as well. We would like to know everyone’s thoughts on what layout could work best for this type of site.
- We are very open to suggestion at this point. Please let us know if you have any ideas. Again, comments have been closed. However, once the forums are up and running feel free to let us know your suggestions there. A suggestions forum will be setup just for this.
- We are also looking for new team members for adding content to this site. As said before we want users of the site to be able to submit content, but we want a team that will help bring new content to the site even if regular users don’t.
We will continue to post here and update. If something is changed we will change it and update it in this post. We may also change this over to a page later if we decide to post a lot of new posts.
